System of Assessment and Examination for Classes III- VIII

Scholastic Area: The assessment structure and examination for Classes III to VIII comprises of two terms

  • Term 1 will comprise of 2 Unit Test of 10 marks each (for internal assessment) and 20 Marks Periodic Assessment + 80 Marks Half Yearly Exam
  • Term 2 will comprise of 3 Unit Test of 10 marks each (for internal assessment) and 20 Marks Periodic Assessment + 80 Marks Annual Exam (will be shown in Report Card)
Subjects TERM-1 (100 marks) and Term-2 (100 marks)

20 marks Periodic Assessment + 80 marks for Half Yearly / Annual Exam

Annual Exam

Class VI: 10% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term

Class VII: 20% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term

Class VIII: 30% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term

 

Subject Enrichment Activities: These are subject-specific activities aimed at enhancing the understanding and skills of the students. (Languages, Mathematics, Science & Social Science – Listening & Speaking Skills, Activities, Practical Work, Maps or Project Work will be undertaken as per the NCERT Syllabus and Text Books)

Co-Scholastic Activities: For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas will be graded term-wise on a 3-point grading scale (A=Outstanding, B=Very Good and C=Fair).The aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and teamwork be the generic criteria for grading

  • Art Education (Visual & Performing Art)
  • Health and Physical Education (with Work Experience) (Sports/Martial Arts/Yoga/NCC etc.)
  • Discipline (Attendance, Sincerity, Behaviour, Values)

Scholastic Area: The assessment structure and examination for Classes IX & X comprises of two terms i.e. Term-1 and 2 as explained below:

  • Term 1 will comprise of 2 Unit Test of 10 marks each (for internal assessment) and 20 Marks Periodic Assessment + 80 Marks Half Yearly Exam
  • Term 2 will comprise of 3 Unit Test of 10 marks each, 1 Model Exam of 80 Marks (for internal assessment) and 20 Marks Periodic Assessment + 80 Marks Annual Exam

  • Portfolio – Class work plus peer assessment, self -assessment, achievements of student in the subject, reflections, narrations, journals, etc)
  • Subject Enrichment – Practical work for Science; Lab work for Mathematics , Project Work for Social Science and Listening and Speaking skills for languages.
  • 33% marks is required to qualify in a subject

Co-Scholastic Activities: Co-curricular activities in the following areas will be graded term-wise on a 5-point (A-E) grading scale. The aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and teamwork will be the generic criteria for grading in the following co-scholastic activities:

70 / 80 marks for Year End / Board Exam

English Core / Malayalam  Mathematics / Accountancy / Economics/ Business Studies 20:80

 

· Objective type including Multiple Choice Questions – Minimum 25% marks

· Subjective – Maximum 75% mark

 

33% marks is required to qualify in a subject

Physics / Chemistry / Biology

Computer Science / Informatics Practices
